Every few months, the skies treat us to a dazzling display that’s worth staying up late (or waking up early) for. The Lyrid meteor shower is just around the corner, and this is one celestial event you’re not going to want to miss. Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and get ready to watch one of the great meteor showers of the year in April.
The Lyrid Meteor Shower is set to take place April 16 through April 25.

Typically this meteor shower produces a steady stream of about 10 to 15 meteors per hours, but during surges, this number jumps to 100 meteors per hour.

The best time to view the shower is when the night sky is at its darkest, just before dawn.

As long as the skies are clear, you’ll have an excellent view of the shower.

While you could spot a meteor anytime between April 16-25, it will peak on April 22, 2020, so that’s when you’ll really want to grab a blanket and spend an evening outside.

You’ll want to get as far away from light pollution as you can so you can have the best view.
