Utah is home to thousands of natural wonders, hundreds of beautiful outdoor art sculptures, and a few dozen quirky roadside attractions. From Metaphor: Tree of Utah, to Moqui Cave, there’s always something interesting to see on a road trip. There’s one roadside attraction in Vernal that captures the essence of the town’s main tourist attraction, and also shows its sense of humor. Have you seen this decorated T-Rex on the side of the road?

If you’ve ever visited Vernal, you’re familiar with Dinah the Pink Dinosaur, who greets you on your way into town. She’s adorable, but there’s another dinosaur here, and he dresses up for all the holidays.

Check out Rex! He’s a T-Rex with a very cool personality, and he stands 23 feet tall.

Originally created to advertise the Dine-a-Ville Motel, Rex has been around for more than 50 years, and he has all kinds of costumes to keep residents and tourists entertained. Sometimes he holds a huge watermelon…

…and occasionally he acts as the local grill master, with his BBQ and huge hamburger.

In February, Rex captures the hearts of everyone who sees him, with his 10-foot bow and arrow and Cupid wings. He’s quite the romantic.

Rex is very community-minded. At the end of every school year, he congratulates all the graduating seniors at Uintah High School.

Most recently, Rex is dressed in a face mask so he can avoid spreading COVID-19 through the community. After all, a healthy T-Rex is a happy T-Rex!
