The name of the park is from the small stream that cuts through the land which is named Hard Labor Creek.

Much of the land and surrounding area was built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s.

Home to two different group camps, Camp Rutledge and Camp Daniel Morgan, the latter has been the filming location for various movies throughout the 70s and 80s.

The park itself is filled with nature, from bird and butterfly watching to star gazing on a clear night.

Hard Labor Creek State Park hosts quite a few different events throughout the year from star gazing by kayak during the summer, on set cinema screenings in the fall, and even spooky wagon rides at Halloween.
