The deepest cave in the state belongs on every Ohioan’s bucket list. Year-round, a visit to the Ohio Caverns in West Liberty is the perfect way to seize the day, learn something new about our state and have an unforgettable adventure. The temperature is perfect, even during the winter months when snow might be on the ground. Here’s why you’ll want to visit:

“America’s Most Colorful Caverns” can be found in West Liberty, Ohio. They’re filled with crystal stalactites, stalagmites and other fascinating formations.

The Ohio Caverns were formed thousands of years ago when an underground river cut through ancient limestone and created vast rooms and passageways.

Year-round, the caves are a comfortable (yet slightly chilly) 54-degrees. Even if it’s icy and significantly cold outside, it won’t interfere with your adventure.

Within the Deepest Point is one of the world’s largest and most perfectly formed stalactites, Crystal King, (pictured below).

During your visit, consider gem mining at the sluice. It’s especially fun to do with groups and families.
