We Texans will never pass up an opportunity to drink margaritas — especially when it benefits a wonderful cause. That’s exactly what the Margarita Taste-Off next month is all about, and it will feature nearly 20 different innovative drinks as well as food, a DJ, and so much more.

Candlelighters, a nonprofit organization providing emotional, educational, and practical support to families of children battling cancer, is proud to present the 12th Annual Margarita Taste-Off on Saturday, March 28. All proceeds benefit the cause, so you can have fun and feel good about what your attendance supports.

This year, Kirby Ice House will host the event. All afternoon, guests will sample margaritas from over 19 participating restaurants and enjoy a full-blown fiesta with light snacks, a Don Julio tasting station, DJ, raffle, and so much more.

Many of the restaurants, including Emma’s Mex Grill, value authenticity over pretty much everything. Traditional ingredients like fresh lemon and lime, blue agave nectar, and high-quality tequila create a drink that doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but rather perfects a classic.

Places like 8th Wonder Distillery, a relatively new Houston taproom, dare to enter uncharted territory. Their ‘Mexican Candy’ was inspired by the famous Rockaleta lollipop, and it has just the right amount of sweet and zesty to excite your taste buds like never before.

Not many Asian restaurants are known for their margaritas, but Kin Dee Thai Cuisine is changing that narrative. This Tom Yum margarita offers a unique take on the traditional hot and sour soup (yes, that’s a real chile pepper on top!)

Steakhouses are also not usually anyone’s first choice for a marg – unless they’ve been to Fleming’s, that is. This high-end eatery extends its gourmet to the bar, with light and fresh beverages like this blend of Herradura Tequila Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice, grenadine, and sparkling rosé.
