It’s time to start spending more time outside! Isn’t this what we’ve all been waiting for? A reason to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet away from others. This is a time for reflection and there’s no better way to do it than by hitting the trails to enjoy all the nature has to offer. This trail leads through the forest and all the way to a beautiful pool of water.

Some of our favorite hikes are just simple routes that lead through some beautiful forest. This one, Baldface Circle Trail in Chatham, is an out and back route that’s about 1.6 miles in length.

This is not to be confused with the larger Baldface Trail which is a total distance of about 9 miles. It’s far more challenging, which is why we appreciate this shorter off-shoot.

In addition to being shorter, another benefit of this trail is that it leads straight to a beautiful pool of water. In the colder months it’s nice to look at, but when it’s warm you can actually swim!

And, the trail is so lovely that it might feel like you’ve arrived at the pool in the blink of an eye.

A small waterfall flows over rocks and boulders at one end of the pool, making the area lush and atmospheric. It feels a little like being in a secret oasis!

The beautiful turquoise water is completely clear, too.

Look right down at the bottom and you’ll see your feet!

Once you’ve arrived at the end of the hike and taken a swim (if it’s warm enough!) you can climb around making this a real adventure.

But, of course, you always want to be extra careful as the area near water can be extra slippery depending on the weather and other conditions.

Take your time, enjoy the fresh air and then return back to the trailhead on the very same route.

You can learn more about this beautiful spot here. Remember to practice safety while hiking, including telling someone where you’re going and being out and back before dark. Other than that, enjoy!
