Fairytale isn’t usually a word used to describe a hiking trail. However, in the case of the Geneva Lake Shore Path, it couldn’t be more fitting. Undeniably enchanting, the 26-mile trail (don’t worry, you don’t have to hike the whole thing) boasts expansive estates, colorful gardens, bridges, stepping stones, and other fairytale-like features. Take a look:

As you’ve probably already guessed, Geneva Lake Shore Path is located in the picturesque city of Lake Geneva.

Don’t worry, though. There are plenty of signs to guide you in the right direction.

As you meander along the trail, you’ll be treated to close-up views of Geneva Lake and the sailboats, antique wooden boats, and excursion boats that occupy its waters.

But the storybook views don’t end with lakefront vistas.

And remember the private properties we mentioned earlier? Well, the property owners maintain the path through each of their properties, adding their own special touches.

From artwork to water stations and benches, the property owners’ additions only add to the trail’s magic.

Walking the entire 26-mile path would take about 8 – 10 hours; however, you can hike it in sections thanks to several access points, which can be found at Lake Geneva Public Library, Fontana, Williams Bay, and Big Foot Beach State Park.

Another option for those seeking to stroll just a segment of the path is the Lake Geneva Cruise Line’s Lake Walk Tour. The tour gives you the option of walking from Lake Geneva to Williams Bay and getting a boat tour back, or riding from Lake Geneva to Williams Bay and walking back.
