Glacier National Park is not only Montana’s greatest treasure, but it’s also known as the Crown Jewel of the Continent. Inside the million-acre park, you’ll find turquoise lakes, tough mountain terrain, and an abundance of wildlife. You’ll also see some seriously stunning waterfalls, including Saint Mary Falls, which is hiding in plain sight at the end of a short nature walk.

The hike to St. Mary Falls is brief and pleasant, and it’s pretty easy to find the trailhead.

The trail is stunning, especially in the summer.

Between the wildflowers, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife, you certainly won’t be bored.

St. Mary Falls drops roughly 35 feet in three separate tiers, and it’s a truly awe-inspiring sight.

Starinhon / TripAdvisor This is the first of two waterfalls you’ll see on your hike, although many Montanans choose to stop here and relax, taking it all in.

The trail allows you to get pretty close to the falls, although you’ll definitely want to watch your step.

Jacob Jones / AllTrails Keep an eye out for American dippers, stocky dark grey birds who dive these waters in search of food. If you’re lucky, you might spot some other wildlife as well.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a stunning waterfall that’s such an easy hike…

…and, best of all, it’s not even the only waterfall on the trail.

Hike just a bit farther and you’ll come to Virginia Falls, which is just as spectacular.

You can visit St. Mary Falls during the spring, summer, and fall, but we highly recommend going in the summer.

Lauren Morris / AllTrails To beat the crowds, start early in the day, or try to go during the week.
