If you are looking for something fun and exciting to do this summer, there is no better place to be than SoDak, which is home to famous landmarks, amusement parks, and other unique opportunities galore! Since temperatures can get downright miserable during these hot summer months, we recommend cooling off a bit with a trip to the Devil’s Bathtub, a natural South Dakota waterslide that is hidden inside of Spearfish Canyon:

Tucked away along the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, the Devil’s Bathtub may have a scary-sounding name but is actually one of the most beautiful places in all of South Dakota!

TripAdvisor/Mark K

Situated along a 1.1-mile out-and-back trail, the Devil’s Bathtub is home to a picture-perfect creek surrounded by dramatic canyon walls and a jaw-dropping waterfall at the end.

In addition to all of the above, the creek portion of the Bathtub features cool temperatures and slick rocks that make for a perfect waterslide.

Can you see now why we think the Devil’s Bathtub is the perfect summertime destination?

AllTrails/Ashley Andexser

The Devil’s Bathtub is accessible via Cleopatra Place (just south of Bridal Veil Falls). Once you find the small gravel parking lot along the road, walk over the bridge and turn right, which will lead you along the Sunshine Creek to the Devil’s Bathtub.

AllTrails/Rick Holbrook

Please note: You will have to cross the creek at times, so use caution, as the rocks can be slick.
