One of the major highlights of any visit to North Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene is getting to see the gorgeous lake upon which it sits. Lake Coeur d’Alene is one of the region’s major attractions, boasting all types of recreational opportunities including beaches, hiking trails, and even lake cruises. However, one of the best ways to experience this lake is to stroll along the 3,300-foot waterfront boardwalk at Coeur d’Alene Resort. Considered the longest floating boardwalk in the world, this is a great way to see the lake’s extraordinary beauty up close!
Encircling the marina on Lake Coeur d’Alene is what’s officially regarded as the longest floating boardwalk in the entire world. It’s part of the Coeur d’Alene Resort hotel, golf, and spa complex, but the boardwalk itself is completely open to the public.

Spanning 3,300-feet across the lake (nearly three quarters of a mile), the boardwalk is certainly an impressive sight on the lake. Not only does it provide access to the marina, but it’s also a great place to take in the tremendous lake views!

Built in 1986, the boardwalk has become a popular attraction in itself since walking along the boardwalk is a lovely experience that anyone can enjoy. Rest stops and benches located along the boardwalk are perfect for sitting and taking it all in.

A 60-foot-long arch bridge located along the boardwalk provides an especially spectacular view of the lake and its surroundings. Consider bringing some binoculars and keep an eye out for the osprey and eagles that are known to roam the area.

We may be biased, but Idaho sunsets are simply the best. Imagine yourself enjoying one of our state’s breathtaking sunsets from this waterfront boardwalk where nothing but lake and forest surrounds you. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Afterwards, you can stop by the popular Boardwalk Bar. Located at the west entrance of the boardwalk, the bar serves delicious cocktails and light fare all summer long. Eat, drink, and enjoy the view.
