In the tiny town of McLeod, with a population of only 27 as of the last census, is a place that attracts hundreds: a unique restaurant in North Dakota called the Silver Prairie Saloon.
Emily Bruderer Stefonowicz via Silver Praire Saloon Facebook page It’s a small town and a small place, but it is not to be underestimated. On the town’s Main Avenue, you’ll find the restaurant. From the outside, it looks like a nice themed bar and grill type joint, sporting some hitching posts for effect…

No detail is spared in the whole look and feel of this place.
Yelp user Lisa H. I took a small personal tour of the place before hours and I was in awe. Everything from the bar to the tables, the wall decor, even the bathrooms - it feels like a modern day western saloon with a fun, awesome atmosphere. It’ll make you feel like a real cowboy or cowgirl just off the range.
You can even take a ride on some saddles instead of stools up at the bar.
Tripadvisor user Kathy E. E. Yes, these are real saddles. Yes, you can sit up at the bar on one of these the whole time if you want. There are some small ones for the kids, too.
And let’s not forget about the food! Silver Prairie’s is second to none.
Silver Prairie Saloon via Facebook Grassland ribeye, shrimp, walleye, steak; it’s a carnivore’s dream! But the menu doesn’t stop there - pretty much anyone could find something they’d love, and the food is nothing short of top quality. These perfectly crafted meals far surpass your average small town bar and grill.
Throughout every week, there are specials serving up fun and different dishes that range from ethnic cuisine to North Dakota favorites. Every day, something delicious is being made.
Silver Prairie Saloon via Facebook Whether you get one of the classics off their menu or some truly scrumptious daily special, you’ll be more than satisfied. And don’t forget about dessert - they have homemade pies, ice cream, and more.
The Silver Prairie Saloon is open every day but Sundays, snow or shine, when you can gather around the fire pit out front to share some great times with friends and family.

It truly is a unique and amazing place, all in wild west town in North Dakota out in the middle of the Sheyenne National Grassland.
Dayna Speich via Silver Prairie Saloon Facebook page Silver Prairie Saloon is a hidden gem that everyone should have on their North Dakota restaurant bucket lists.
If you’d like to visit there – and you definitely should – you can find it about an hour southwest of Fargo. You can’t miss it if you’re in town. Visit their Facebook page to see what they’re up to and find more information. A word of warning – this place does get very busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly or call ahead.
