There’s nothing more exciting than setting off on a new outdoor adventure. Luckily, Louisiana is chock-full of incredible hiking and nature trails that feature everything from bayous to prairies. The Longleaf Vista Trail in the Kisatchie National Forest might just be one of the most unique hikes in Louisiana, and once you reach the end of the trail, you’ll be amazed by the beautiful treetop views—a rarity in Louisiana!

The Kisatchie National Forest is the only national forest in Louisiana. Clocking in at over 600,000 acres, it spans over seven parishes and is broken up into five ranger districts.

There are countless primitive trails peppered throughout the forest. For a short and sweet hike with amazing views, you’ll want to check out the Longleaf Vista Trail.

The 1.5-mile loop trail will take you on a journey through the towering pine trees with multiple wildlife viewing opportunities.
