As the summer draws closer, you’ll want to start planning your weekends around getting outside and spending some time on the water. Luckily, Louisiana has no shortage of beautiful waterways to explore. There’s one particular reservoir that’s impressive, to say the least, and it should move to the top of your bucket list this year. Let’s take a closer look at the Toledo Bend Reservoir, the largest man-made body of water in the South.
Located on the Sabine River between Texas and Louisiana, the Toledo Bend Reservoir is the fifth-largest man-made body of water in the country.

A joint effort between both states in the early 1950s procured the funds and build the dam, which was completed in 1969.

There are two state parks in Louisiana that are nestled along the reservoir: North Toledo Bend State Park and South Toledo Bend State Park.
