With a population of less than 1,000, Washington may be a small town outside of Opelousas, but it’s holding a big secret.

This rustic restaurant has been a favorite for locals since they opened in 1988, but the building dates back much further.
Pyrate/Google Construction on the building began in 1819 and was completed around 1823. For many years, Washington was once the largest inland port between New Orleans and St. Louis.
Restored in 1977, the Steamboat Warehouse is a beautifully rustic restaurant nestled on the banks of Bayou Courtableau.
