Opened in 1970, the South Dakota Art Museum is housed on the campus of South Dakota State University and boasts seven galleries with an average of 15 new exhibits each year.

While some of the exhibits are either traveling or temporary, the Art Museum also houses several permanent collections that consist of everything from Native American pottery to paintings, works on paper, and textiles.
