Rookwood Pottery was also the first American ceramics company to gain recognition for its artistry, as American ceramics were looked down upon at the time of the company’s establishment. Several famous artists and talented students came here to work, using rare methods that produced stunning pieces of pottery that sold for as much as $350,000.
