There are a lot of reasons to love a local diner. Most have been a part of the community for decades and have seen the best (and the worst!) of things over the years. We also love that there’s a good chance you can catch up on some local gossip each time to stop in! But, of course, the most important thing is always the food. Heading to this spot not only means great food, but they also happen to have some of the most impressive pancakes in the state!

Welcome to Palace Diner in Biddeford. It’s been around since 1927, making it Maine’s oldest diner!

Rick M / TripAdvisor The original diner opened during Biddeford’s textile mill days. It’s still housed within one of only two old Pollard dining cars in the world!

The diner was originally open 24-hours each day to ensure they could serve the local workers whenever they were hungry.

The diner has changed hands just a few times and today it’s operated by Greg Mitchell and Chad Conley who re-opened the beloved establishment in 2014.
