Tucked away in Olympic National Park awaits a truly magical destination: the Hoh Rainforest. At one time, there used to be rainforest that stretched from central California all the way to southeastern Alaska. Today, the Hoh remains as one of the best examples of a temperate rainforest in the U.S. When you visit, you’ll be completely entranced by the unique landscape of lush greens.

The best way to experience the iconic Hoh Rainforest in Washington is to take the Hall of Mosses Trail. This one-mile stroll offers the perfect introduction into a very unique rainforest.

Along the way, you can admire the dense rainforest that, true to the name of the trail, is completely covered in moss. The rainforest receives up to 14 feet of rain annually, which is why moss and ferns grow so frequently here.

The trail is located near the visitors center and although it’s heavily-trafficked, it’s well worth the visit. Interpretive signs along the way will help you make the most of your visit.
