Of all the ways to enjoy the summertime here in New Hampshire, visiting the many state park lake beaches is one of our favorites. There are many to choose from, but when you want to peace and quiet, you might want to head to one of the more quiet areas. Wadleigh State Park has one of the most lovely lakes in the state and the water offers a day out that feels like a real vacation.

Kezar Lake can be found within Wadleigh State Park in Suttton. It might not be the largest in the state, but it’s peaceful, calm and the lake here is absolutely gorgeous.

Beginning in the 1930s, Kezar Lake suffered from pollution and in the 1960s algae blooms were discovered. In the 1970s thje Kezar Lake Protective Association was formed to clean and protect the lake and today it’s a vision!

The water here is so much more clear than you might imagine of a lake.

There might not be another beach quite like it in the region. In many places you can see clear down to your feet on the bottom.

And the cleanliness of the water makes this a great place for recreation. From swimming to boating, you could occupy yourself all day!

Plan to arrive early enough and you’ll be treated to the sunrise and mist rises from the waters.

And stick around until sunset and you’ll end the day in the most peaceful way possible.

And when you need a diversion, simply head off on one of the many hiking trails you’ll find in the park.

Wadleigh State Park has varying open hours this year, so be sure to check the official website to keep up-to-date. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children 6-11 and children 5 and under as well as New Hampshire residents 65 and over are admitted free.
