With all its crooks and crannies, Maine has a longer coastline than that of California. The 3,478 miles of beauty include both impressively rocky cliffs and beautiful sandy beaches. Everyone knows the more popular spots that exist all the way up southern Maine, but there are actually quite a few that offer some nice peace and quiet. In fact, if you know where to look the right beach will be serene even on a beautiful summer day. While they exist all the way up and down the coast. this one is certainly a favorite. And the water is beautiful!
Make your way to The Wells Reserve at Laudholm and the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve to experience this small slice of Maine heaven.

While we’ll tell you all about the actual beach in just a moment, our favorite thing about being there is the journey to get there.
Stephanie H / TripAdvisor Our favorite route is the Knight Trail which leads to the Barrier Beach Trail. Or, you can choose to take the Barrier Beach Trail the whole way. Both are about a half mile.

Most of Maine’s beaches have a very specific look and Laudholm is no different. But depending on the light, things here are incredibly blue.

Given how simple the walk is, the half mile route doesn’t take very long.

There’s plenty of exploring to be done, including the rocks and the tiny sea creatures that call this place home.
