The ghost stories behind Blue Mist Road in Pittsburgh, for example, just might make you pause before heading down that road at night.

Running through North Park, Blue Mist Road is often referred to by its official name - Irwin Road. However, it earned its nickname because of its reputation for paranormal activity.

Local lore, in fact, tells of a blue mist that falls upon Blue Mist Road every evening as the sun gives way to darkness. Many, including paranormal investigators, often identify the road as one of the most haunted in the United States.

Some say Blue Mist Road was the site of horrific lynchings and murders by the Ku Klux Klan. The victims’ spirits, if you believe the tales, still meander down the road.

If you’re absolutely certain you want to experience the paranormal, drive down Blue Mist Road at night. Make sure no other traffic is on the road when you stop and put your car in park. Honk your horn three times.

Those who believe in the paranormal will tell you that those three honks will summon the spirits who still roam along the haunted road. Don’t be too surprised if you see bodies hanging from trees, strange orbs, or even an angry dog/human hybrid.

A mother and her children, having been brutally murdered in their home along Blue Mist Road then buried in a septic tank by the husband and father, still wander down the street when the sun goes down. You might even catch sight of them.

If you decide to venture down the road at night, listen for the sound of traditional Indian drums. Paranormal investigators claim to have snapped pictures after hearing that drum beat on the otherwise deserted road. Angry faces appeared in the developed photos.
