Many Delawareans have driven past the roadside spaceship on Route 1, just outside of Lewes. While it’s sure to catch your eye, did you ever realize that this oddity was actually somebody’s house?

While most of us refer to the landmark as “the UFO”, it’s actually a Futuro House built here in the 1970s.

These oddly shaped homes were first designed by architect Matti Suuronen in 1968. Suuronen intended the Futuro houses to be portable ski chalets.
