Of all the parks in the state, you won’t find another quite like Veterans Park in North Prairie – and that’s because it’s home to an entire miniature village. As magical and charming as it sounds, the scaled-down town is made up of several buildings as well as a windmill and bridge. Take a look:

The charming collection of miniature buildings was created by August Klatt, a skilled carpenter and contractor.

Initially, the miniature village was located in Klatt’s backyard.

At the time of its completion in 1938, the folk art village included a schoolhouse, a church, a few houses, a windmill, and a bridge.

Sometime after Klatt’s death in 1951, the group of buildings was acquired and conserved by the Kohler Foundation.

In 2004, the foundation gifted the sculptures to the North Prairie Area Historical Society, which, in turn, moved the buildings to Veterans Park.
