Every year the Department of Arkansas Heritage celebrates our most legendary restaurants in the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame. Since 2016 the Hall has inducted “taste-setters” all around the state as well as the best-of-the-best proprietors and food-themed festivals. In no particular order let’s travel to the four admitted restaurants (including the People’s Choice category) and have a taste of victory!
- Murry’s Restaurant - Hazen

Facebook/Arkansas State Tourism This middle-of-nowhere catfish haven outside of Hazen has a well-earned spot in the 2020 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame. The catfish is delightful of course but don’t hesitate to take up an offer for the crappie. It’s not on the menu but special is routinely offered. Just be sure to save room for the bread pudding!
- Ed Walker’s Drive-In & Restaurant - Fort Smith

Google/Toby Fender Ed Walker’s has been serving their famous French Dips for nearly 75 years. It’s the last drive-in to offer curbside beer in Arkansas, too. They also have the largest single-patty burger in the state at a whopping 5-lbs! Drink in the nostalgia while feasting on one of their sandwiches before digging into a slice of pie.
- The Ohio Club - Hot Springs
Facebook/The Ohio Club
Google/Pidkar The oldest bar in Arkansas earned a spot at the Hall of Fame through the People’s Choice category - and the people were right! The Ohio Club originally opened in 1905 and has seen a wide variety of famous people from Babe Ruth to Al Capone. Today the Club serves delicious sandwiches alongside its history.
- Cattleman’s Steak House - Texarkana

Google/Luke Shuecraft Let’s head south for our final Hall of Fame nominee, Cattleman’s. This steakhouse has been sizzling for over fifty years! The King Cut Prime Rib, and just about every other cut of steak imaginably, make it hard to settle on dinner but no choice is wrong. This delicious eatery also offers quail, red snapper, and blackened chicken that’ll make your mouth water. Barbara Ann’s Cheesecake will have you feeling like a winner, too!
