If you’re visiting one of Alaska’s most beautiful waterfront towns, make sure to amble along Seward Waterfront Shore Path in downtown Seward, Alaska. This great little paved trail curves along Seward’s waterfront, giving you a front row view to Prince William Sound and the surrounding mountains. If you’re lucky, you may even come across some of Alaska’s famous ocean wildlife!
If you’re in Seward and looking for a fabulous morning or afternoon walk, there’s a very accessible trail along the waterfront.

The trail starts and ends at Founder’s Monument, a statue that honors John Ballaine, Seward’s founder.

In addition to the gorgeous beach, ocean, and mountain views you’ll be entranced with, there is a plethora of wildlife in front of you!

As you walk down the path, you may also see porpoises, sea otters, and bald eagles.

The entire trail is a 1.9 mile out and back walk.

Many people turn around at the boat harbor, but you can continue on if you wish, or explore the docks with their beautiful boats.
Soaring Albatross / Flickr In and among the boats you will usually find jellyfish, sea otters, and other fun wildlife. If you’re interested in seeing marine animals, it might be worth heading down the docks.
This is the perfect stroll for any season, and any time of day. You would be more likely to see whales nearby during high tide, however!
