Even when we’re at home exploring our own backyards, it’s fun to think about the months to come when we’re able to explore all of Montana once again. And when that day finally arrives, most Montanans won’t flock to a city, but even further into nature. Recently, we discovered the most amazing renovated homesteader’s cabin in the Gallatin Mountains, and while it’s only a few miles from the city of Bozeman, you’ll feel like you’re in your own world.

This is the Bear Canyon Bunkhouse, a fully renovated home that dates all the way back to 1897.

Airbnb As you can see by the four-person hot tub out front, it’s far from rustic.

As the name suggests, the cabin is located in Bozeman’s Bear Canyon and it has quite the history.

Airbnb It was once the home of Bessie Alice Williams and her family. Bessie married Orlando Lawrence, and they raised their family here. Orlando eventually bought a sawmill in Bear Canyon, which he operated until his death.

These days, the cabin is owned by Jason and Jackie Wickens, who rent it out on Airbnb.

Airbnb Not only have they kept the place immaculate, they’ve also filled it with all kinds of cozy amenities.

The large living room is full of soft furniture and a looming fireplace, which is a perfect gathering spot after a long day spent in the great outdoors.

Airbnb This is not meant to be a rustic experience. You’ll have a TV, WiFi, and central heating as well.

Cook your family a meal in the large modern kitchen, which has pots and pans, appliances, and all the basics.

Airbnb And yes, there is a coffee pot.

The Bear Canyon Bunkhouse has two bedrooms and a full bathroom, and it can host four guests comfortably.

Airbnb The master bedroom is downstairs and has a king-sized bed.

Upstairs, you’ll find a cozy loft bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed.

Airbnb There’s also a sofa bed downstairs for extra guests.

The Bear Canyon Bunkhouse is an incredible place to get away from it all.

Airbnb Rates vary, but you can expect to spend around $275 per night for the cabin.
