The Schoolhouse Lodge Originally known as the Bayou Meto School, the learning facility was created on donated land by the Lumsden family. Between the 1930s-50s the Schoolhouse was a two-roomed classroom for the country kids around Bayo Meto.
Classes may be over but there’s still plenty of reminders of the lodge’s past life.
The Schoolhouse Lodge The school closed in 1960 and stayed in the Lumsden family. After remodeling, the Schoolhouse Lodge opened in 2001. Although there are other preserved schools around the state, this one is the only existing school building that’s still standing on its original location.
