While the outdoors and nature are always open, it’s unclear what summertime is going to look like in terms of the lakes and beaches in Kentucky. But no matter what happens, there will always be sandy shores and clear water waiting for us at one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the state, Laurel River Lake. Waiting for you just west of Corbin along I-75 is a lake that’s known as the clearest in the state.

This manmade lake was impounded in 1974 and the photo below shows the area before it was flooded.

Over 45 years later and Laurel River Lake is clear, deep, and a beautiful destination anytime of year.

If you enjoy fishing, Laurel River Lake is a sought after spot in the Bluegrass.
