The weather is nice, the temps are high and there’s been a whole lot of blue sky lately. While we sit here and hope to get a lot more of that, we’re also day dreaming about the fun we’ll be having the next few months. Crystal Cascades is located in the White Mountain National Forest, which might have you expecting to undertake a strenuous hike to see it. But, one of the best things about this beauty is the ease with which you can view it.

The short hike up the Tuckerman Ravine trail leads through a beautiful section of forest cutting over the Cutler River.

The out-and-back route is just .8-miles which means it won’t take all day.

And, we also love that it’s gorgeous any time of year. In fact, folks love it in the winter. But, if you choose to make the trip when it’s snowy or icy, be sure to exercise caution. Conditions can be slippery.

And while the term “cascade” might have you imagining something simple and flowing, this waterfall is anything but that!

The total vertical drop is more than 90 feet. The first drop is about 70-feet high and the lower is a bit more than 25-feet.

Just opposite the falls you’ll find a viewing area which makes for great photos.
