German Village in Columbus is full of charm and history, but there’s a lot to see and do. So much so, in fact, that it can be challenging to narrow down the best of the best to but a few businesses. Fortunately, if you’re craving something sweet, there is one bake shop that serves the best macarons in Ohio. Seriously. People visit this shop from all over the state in search of a bit of bliss… and their taste buds always find that little taste of heaven. Hop in the car and let’s hit the road, because this Columbus bakery is calling your name:

Tucked away in German Village is a charming coffee shop with a love of baked goods.

Though this coffee joint is in German Village, they serve up pastries that are straight out of Paris.

Of course, they also have brunch and lunchtime favorites like quiche and smoked salmon “tartare” to fill you up.

Sherry S/TripAdvisor Don’t have time to wait in line? You can find a select portion of their menu when you order online through their website or a familiar app like DoorDash.

But visitors truly come from all over to experience the heavenly delicacy of their pastries and baked goodies.

Since they opened their doors in 2004, locals have absolutely raved about their macarons.

However, every creation at this coveted Columbus coffee shop utilizes old fashioned techniques while celebrating new and modern flavor combinations.

And it seems that absolutely everything on the menu pairs well with a cup of coffee… but then again, what doesn’t?!

Heather D/Google Images Indulge in special drinks that will wrap your taste buds in a hug and will take your mind back to a happier time. This is the power of coffee, and everything from the traditional cappuccino to the Masala Chai Latte at Pistacia Vera has the power to take your taste buds on a journey.

The truly enchanting thing about this no-fuss corner coffee shop is that it feels like home to visitors of all ages. College students and those that are young at heart each find something to love here.

Saori Wakita/Google Images Who doesn’t love a good made-from-scratch indulgence? Whether you are looking for something hearty like a quiche or something as super sweet as a creme brûlée eclair, there is a menu item for you.

Even the surrounds of this sibling-owned business have a story to tell, as the building at 541 South Third Street has stood watch over the neighborhood for generations.

The first eatery to open at the German Village location was an old-fashioned German bakery.

Lyndon & Janae Martin/Google Images In 1930, Gottlieb “George” Reiner opened a bakery at this location that lasted for nearly four decades. Tom Thurn Foods replaced it in the 1970s, serving lunch meat and baked goodies alike. Since 2007, the owners of Pistacia Vera (formerly “Pistachio,” which was located in the Short North Arts district) have paid homage to the history of this Columbus landmark while pursuing their passion.

From the best macarons in Ohio to the most decadent brunch in German Village, Pistachia Vera has it all.
