While things aren’t always easy, it’s so nice to see that New Hampshirites are always will to help a stranger. Whether it’s neighbors helping each other dig out from a massive snowstorm or making sure that kids get to school on time, there’s something about the Granite State that brings out some serious kindness. Osteria Poggio in Center Harbor is one of the best places in the state to snag a deliciously, home-cooked Italian meal.

From homemade pastas made fresh right in the restaurant to the smiling faces that are always there to great folks, this is the kind of place that reminds us why living in a small New Hampshire town is so special.

They’re dedicated to using as much local produce, dairy, seafood, and meats as possible. Any given meal might include food from places such as White Oak Pond Farm in Holderness, Moulton Farm in Meredith, Serendipity Farm in Campton and the folks at Local Provisions in Laconia.

And while we love dining in the restaurant, lately they’ve been offering something special to folks in-need.

With recent in-house dining shut downs they’ve been left with a surplus of food. Rather than let it go to waste they’ve been offering free meals to local New Hampshirites who need it.

This first rolled out on Tuesday, March 24. Between 4 p.m.and 7 p.m. people were invited to come to the restaurant to pick up a meal for the evening. Completely free of charge.

The staff offered a second round on Saturday, March 28th. Meals have been on a first-come, first-served basis.

While we can’t be sure if this will continue, they’ve asked for donations which is a promising sign that they’ll try to keep this up.
