For many, staying physically active is much more than just a New Year’s resolution. Making it a point to add physical activity into your daily routine can be a bit daunting at first, but the long-term benefits are endless. According to a recent study, Oregonians are some of the most active people in the country, so let’s keep up the good work!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a study in January of 2020, and the results may surprise you.

The study focused on adult physical inactivity in relation to race and ethnicity.

While all states have more than 15% of adults who were physically inactive, Oregon scored pretty well on the rankings.

For the study, physical inactivity was defined as no leisure-time physical activity during the past month.

As far as individual states go, Oregon had some of the lowest numbers when it came to physical inactivity.

Palinkas/Trip Advisor Reports show 15-20% of adults were physically inactive; one of only four states that scored less than 20%.

For comparison, most of the southern states (Tennessee, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Mississippi) reported 30% or more of adults were physically inactive.
