The Allagash Wildnerss Waterway’s new Visiting Artist Program offers an opportunity for one artist to “immerse themselves in the Maine wilderness and the creative process, and ultimately, to share the experience with the public.”

The winner will receive lodging in a rustic, one-room cabin on the Waterway for two weeks in August. They’ll also have an orientation to the Waterway by AWW rangers and the chance to bring a guest with them if they prefer not to be completely alone.

In return, the artist is asked to host an evening program as well as an open-studio to share their skills and techniques to the those who are interested. Within a year, the artist will need to share their work with the Allagash Wilderness Waterway to share themselves.
