Arkansas has some stellar cycling trails but not every trail caters to every skill level. However, everyone can find something to love about the Northwoods Trails. The ever-expanding trail system has paths for every skill level and casual hikers as well. Let’s weave through the trees and see the endless scenic beauty along the Northwoods.

The Northwoods Trails project began in 2017 but is still going strong.

Google/Jack Britton The current trail system has over 25 miles of trails with all skill levels in mind. The end goal is to have about 45 miles of trail zigzagging through the northern forest surrounding Hot Springs.

Everyone can appreciate the beauty of this trail system.

Google/Collin Gallimore The trails cover beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels through the forest. Many of the trails are also shared-use which means you don’t have to be cycle-savy to enjoy this gorgeous area!

This is more than a beauty hike though! The trails also offer a rugged playground for skilled cyclists.

Google/Visit Hot Springs The more difficult trails are located on the west side of Northwoods. These exciting trails feature natural challenges like rough terrain as well as human-engineered gaps and step ups.

One of the main features to find within the trail system is Bethel Lake.

Google/Canton Ripfist In the center of the Northwoods is Bethel Lake. It may not be the largest, but it sure is one of the prettiest lakes in the area. We especially love the waterfall!

This is one Arkansas cycling trail that deviates from the state’s norm.

Google/Max Bourque Many (though certainly not all) of Arkansas’ top cycling trails are true mountain bike treks in the mountains. The serene forest and lakes of Northwoods is a pleasant addition to make to your normal routes, both for hikers and bikers.

Pack the helmets and bring the whole fam to enjoy the trails around Northwoods.
