You can reach the highest point by embarking on one of two hikes. The easier hike, which spans under a mile, is the easiest option, especially if you don’t have a lot of time or prefer a quick hike.

Set your GPS to take you to Mount Davis, where you’ll park at the picnic area. From there, follow the High Point Trail to the top of the mountain. It’s a short walk and definitely worth the effort.

However, if you prefer a bit more of an adventure, set off on the entire High Point Trail, a loop trail that spans nearly five-and-a-half miles. You can even bring your pup with you.

The longer trail doesn’t tend to get too busy and passes such pretty natural scenery as flowing streams, small waterfalls, and lush forest trees.

Regardless of which hike you set off on, you’ll discover that the masterpiece of the trail is Pennsylvania’s highest point. Beware, however, if you’re afraid of heights as the highest point is really high.

For the best, most expansive views, including a view of nearby towns like Salisbury, climb to the top of the observation tower. You’ll have to climb quite a few stairs to reach the top of the tower, so be prepared.

Don’t forget your camera, and if you’re hiking the full loop trail, consider climbing the stairs to the tower first so you’re not too tired at the end of your hike.
