Here’s the thing about Indiana… We really don’t have many castles hiding in our state. We do have a few though. We also have a few more that are incredible difficult to find pictures of. What I’ve noticed is that we also have a lot of buildings or houses that look like castles. I thought I could blend together a list of our actual castles with buildings that look like castles to make for a pretty nice list.

- Clayshire Castle
Yelp.com Clayshire Castle is the name of a bed and breakfast located in Bowling Green. It features a medieval theme right down to costumes and is a great way to escape from everyday reality.
- Mysterious Castle in Indianapolis

- Highland Lawn Cemetery Entrance in Terre Haute
WikiMedia Commons Highland Lawn Cemetery is a cemetery owned and operated by the city of Terre Haute that was opened in 1884. I think the stone arch sure looks like it was designed to imitate a castle.
- Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse
WikiMedia Commons The construction of this county courthouse started in 1888 and was completed in 1890. It’s located in the heart of downtown Evansville and used to be the official courthouse. I don’t know about you, but it sure looks like a castle to me!
