Over the years, thousands of Utahns have served in wars all over the world. All have made sacrifices, and many have given their lives. There’s a beautiful memorial in Midway that honors veterans from Wasatch County who served their country, and you’re going to want to visit to pay your respects.

You’ll find Memorial Hill in the town of Midway, near Heber and Park City. The property was purchased in the 1920s for the purpose of erecting a memorial, which was completed in 1927.

Some time after the memorial was completed, vandals stole the plaques that listed every veteran from the county. It took quite awhile for a special committee to gather all the names again.

Today, you’ll find lists of Wasatch County veterans from wars going all the back to the War of 1812. The plaques honor all veterans who served in wars and conflicts since then.

The hill is a beautiful spot to memorialize the veterans of Wasatch County. Visitors enjoy sweeping 360-degree views of the valley below.

The Fallen Soldier Battle Cross is a practice that started during the Civil War to identify soldiers who had fallen on the battlefield. The Battle Cross on Memorial Hill stands in remembrance of soldiers from Wasatch County who perished while serving their country.
