Animal lovers will probably all agree that animals – whether furry, feathered, or scaly – just make our lives better. However, many animals don’t receive the care, the love, and the respect they deserve. Farm animals, in particular, often face heart-wrenching abuse and neglect. Some of the lucky ones end up at this farm animal rescue in North Carolina, and you can visit them.

Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge, in Pittsboro, provides lifelong care, love, and a home for more than 120 rescued farm animals - from curious goats to friendly chickens.

Each animal at the farm refuge has its own name, its own personality, and its own story behind what lead it to Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge.

Sophie the goat, for example, spent the beginning of her life with 200 animals in the yard of a backyard butcher. She was starving when she, and several other goats, arrived at the sanctuary. Today, she’s thriving and loves to be loved on.
