Calling all Harry Potter fans! Something’s brewing at the Hearts of Clay make and paint your own pottery studio in Spartanburg, South Carolina. On Saturday, February 29th, Potter fans will gather here to hand craft a wand of their own and if you, or someone you know, is a Potterhead, it’s a can’t-miss affair.
Muggles and wizards alike are invited to make a reservation for this special late afternoon three-hour event at Hearts of Clay. But don’t wait, space is limited.

Those of all ages are welcome and while a wizard’s cape isn’t required, it will certainly heighten the experience for you and the others attending.

Here’s what to expect: You’ll start with soft clay and carefully design and mold your perfect wand. While it’s usually the wand that chooses you, at this event, it’s the shape of the wand that’ll choose you.

Since the event lasts from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be plenty of time to shape your wand into the perfect length and width for spell casting. For a small additional fee, you can even mold a backup wand!

Then, once your wand is precisely the way you want it, you’ll leave it with Hearts of Clay so it can be fired in a kiln of over 2,500 degrees for just the right amount of time to make it harden.

Then, you’ll return a couple of weeks later (at a time and day of your own choosing) to paint and decorate your wand.

The sky is the limit for decorating, as the studio has hundreds of colors and possible combinations for you to use. Once you’re painting session is complete, you’ll leave the wand with Hearts of Clay one more time so the wand can be fired in the kiln one more time to make the special paint turn into a glossy outer coating to both protect and decorate your wand.

Both sessions for the Harry Pottery Wand Making Class are included in the single price of the workshop. The price for making one wand is only $20. An additional wand is $9.

The class requires a $10 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. And don’t worry… if you’re too late for this class, Harry’s birthday will be coming up soon and, if Hearts of Clay follows last year’s schedule, there will be a very special clay painting party to celebrate! Follow along on their Facebook page for more information, book your seat at the wand making class here, and find other fun clay art classes at this link on the official website!
