The Magnolia Grove Monastery is located in the small town of Batesville, near the Mississippi and Tennessee border.

Rather unique, it’s one of only three monasteries in the U.S. under the spiritual guidance of Thich Nhat Hanh. The others are in New York and California.

Just to give you a bit of background, Thich Nhat Hanh is a world famous spiritual leader, poet, and activist. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a big fan of Thich Nhat Hanh and referred to him as “an apostle of peace and nonviolence.”

Today, more than 30 monks live at Magnolia Grove. And they’re more than happy to host visitors.

Guests of all ages are invited to visit the monastery. Stop by for a Day of Mindfulness or a week-long retreat.

Held twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, Days of Mindfulness allow guests to “practice the art of mindful living” through a Dharma talk, walking meditation, silent meal, and a group discussion.

Just as the names imply, themed retreats focus on specific topics or events, while the personal retreats offer individuals, families, and small groups the chance to practice with the monks.
