Planning a day at the beach soon? You’ll definitely want to find a beach that isn’t going to be slammed with visitors. But let’s also look for another key element: clean and clear water. That’s also a must. And while the majority of South Carolina’s beaches are clean and clear year-round, there’s one that deserves a shout out. The beach at Kiawah Beachwalker County Park not only has some of the clearest and cleanest water along the coast, it’s also not going to be as crowded as some beaches.
In 2017, Condé Nast Traveler ranked this little Charleston County Park as having one of the best beaches in the country. And we couldn’t agree more!

It’s located significantly outside of the shipping channels of the Port City and even better…

Because it’s a county park, the beach is very well maintained and regulated.

The beach has a wide birth for strolling out into the crystal clear water (although there are some low points to beware of), and has seasonal lifeguards on duty.

This little hidden gem also sports some of the cleanest and whitest sand in the state.
TripAdvisor/Bob19512014 Sinking your toes into this fluffy stuff is a wonderful feeling when you’re listening to the waves, enjoying a salty breeze, and simply relaxing in the sun.
But pretty sand and clear water aren’t the only things visitors love about Kiawah Beachwalker Park.
Google Local/Kiawah Beachwalker Park It has amenities you won’t find at just any beach. A seasonal snack bar opens (see this link for dates when seasonal amenities are available), and boasts both restrooms and changing rooms.
It’s no wonder native South Carolinians and visitors alike love this hidden gem so much.
Google Local/Kyle Bubp Before you go, there’s one thing you should know: the park has limited parking ‐ as seen in the top middle of this satellite image. When those spots are filled, you’ll either have to wait until someone leaves, or turn around and leave. So plan to arrive very early in the day to assure you get to enjoy the spoils of this wonderful county park and beach.

With such a wonky spring (thanks to the pandemic), you’ll also want to make certain you double check the official website for Charleston County Parks (find the page for this beach at this link) to make sure the park is open. Any closings or limitations/rules due to the pandemic will be posted in an obvious place.
