Cooked from scratch meals are hard to come by these days when dining out, but that’s not the case at Jincy’s Kitchen in Quails, Oklahoma. This small town restaurant might be way out in the countryside, but they have the best doggone (homemade) food you’ve tried in ages.

Travel down Quails Road (south of Tahlequah) for about 7 miles until you see the sign for Jincy’s Kitchen. When the pavement ends, you’ve arrived at Jincy’s (31392 South Quails Road).

The restaurant is family-owned and housed in an old general store. It might be located in the middle of the countryside, but we promise the drive will be worth it.

You might actually recognize it from a scene in the movie, “Where the Red Fern Grows.” It looks the same as it did in the movie, except the color has changed from white to red.

There’s nothing fancy about this place, so come as you are and enjoy a laid-back comfort meal. You’ll notice the items on the interior walls that were left over from the general store. They are all so interesting and nostalgic!

The menu has several offerings, including chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken and chicken fried pork. Basically, they know how to fry anything to perfection.
