For those who have never been, you can only get to Cumberland Island by taking a ferry or a private boat to the island—there are a limited number of visitors who can go each day.

Visitors are able to take home any seashells or fossilized shark’s teeth they find, as long as the shells do not have sea life in them.

If you want to make an entire weekend out of the trip, you can spend the night camping along the shore, and wake up to hunt for more shells that the tide brought in overnight.
