Only an hour away from Buffalo, the small town of Holley in Orleans County is home to a quaint little park.

Holley’s Canal Park showcases a slice of the area’s local history regarding the Erie Canal and makes for a wonderful place to explore.

At the end of Holley Falls Road in Canal Park though, you’ll start to notice something absolutely stunning.

A waterfall! Holley Canal Falls is slightly deceiving, while the falls may look like your typical New York natural wonder — this one is actually man-made.

Flowing since 1918, this waterfall is actually the result of a need for diverting excess water from the Erie Canal down to Sandy Creek.

Now a wonderful park has been created around the falls, with plenty of shaded areas, picnic tables, shelters, and spots where you can relax for the day.
