Colorado has too many stunning hikes and trails to count, but would you say that you have been on one that is downright magical? Sure, things manage to become even more beautiful when the sun rises or sets (or if cute little woodland animals are scurrying about). Still, there is one Centennial State hike, in particular, that is both whimsical and childlike, and it is called Gnome Road:
Located in the charming northern Colorado town of Red Feather Lakes, Gnome Road is arguably the happiest trail in the state, thanks to its many residents hiding about the premise.

Also called Elf Lane, Gnome Road is situated between Lake Hiawatha and Lake Apache, and spans a relaxed and breezy quarter-mile.

Before you begin your journey, you will be greeted by a few friendly reminders, most important, of which, is “Do not take us, break us, or relocate us, as we live here on Elf Lane to watch over children and all the little animals.”

No matter your age or fitness level, you are guaranteed to love Gnome Road, which is guarded by families of ceramic gnomes, trolls, and fairies who call the area their home.

In addition to the residents themselves, Gnome Road is home to several colorful homes, businesses, and other various buildings, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled at all times.
