While we love going on hikes to appreciate the great outdoors of Maine, let’s not forget that there are actually a lot of ways to get closer to the natural world in Vacationland. This animal sanctuary is home to a variety of animals that you might not have the chance to see. And the best part is that they’re totally safe and cared for.
For the opportunity to learn all about animals and wildlife, you’ll want to head straight to The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. It offers a chance to get up-close-and-personal with some of the most incredible animals in the state.

The animals here cannot be returned to their natural habitats for various reasons ranging from being injured or orphaned to being dependent on humans because they were forced to live in captivity. Sadly, this was sometimes due to illegal activity.
