In case you aren’t an avid reader of Only In Buffalo and have somehow yet to hear the good news, throughout the entire month of March here in New York State, we celebrate all things maple related. So far, we’ve covered amazing attractions that are happening during this delicious time of year like Arcade & Attica’s tasty maple weekend train ride, but this isn’t the only maple themed happening that you’ll find going on here in Western New York! Taking you just east of the Queen City, it’s time to see all that you can experience at this nearby maple festival this year.
Only 60-miles east of the city of Buffalo, it’s time to make the trip out to the Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford.

Each year, the Genesee Country Village and Museum participates in our state’s month-long celebration of all things maple during March by hosting their Maple Sugar Festival weekends.

On weekends between March 21 and 29, Buffalonians can make the scenic drive out to this festival to experience the Nature Center’s Maple History Trail…

…and to get hands-on with tools used to harvest New York’s delicious maple syrup!

Throughout the Genesee Country Village and Museum’s Maple Sugar Festival, you’ll get to step inside the sugarhouse to see how sap turns to syrup, learn how to identify sugar maple trees in the Empire State, and hear tales of the history of maple sap.

Not only is this festival one that’s fascinating and informative, but it’s also one that’s quite delicious!

Between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., you’ll be surrounded by mouthwatering maple cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, maple porter, maple sugar on ice, and other treats - so be sure to arrive on an empty stomach.
