If there’s one thing that’s true about New Orleans, it’s that we have character. Our houses are colorful, our cuisine is bold, and the people are even bolder. But why stop there? There’s one quirky restaurant in New Orleans that’s taking the dining experience to all new levels, and you’re going to want to try it. Make sure you visit them when the weather is nice because you’ll be dining outside in the bed of a busted up pick up truck. Stay with me, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience that you’ll only find in New Orleans.
Oak Street is filled with incredible restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and shopping opportunities, but there’s one shot-gun style restaurant that stands out from the rest, and that’s Jacque Imo’s Cafe.

Established in 1996, this colorful and funky eatery is one of the quirkiest restaurants in New Orleans, and that’s saying something. The dining room is bright and bold, and filled with artwork and funky little finds from their years of operation. Be sure to look up, the ceiling is adorned with dozens of framed paintings, a sight you don’t see every day.

The menu is chock-full of Creole favorites with a unique Jacque Imo spin. Several seafood dishes like crawfish étouffée, blackened redfish and BBQ shrimp all pepper the menu, but you’ll also find meaty options like rack of lamb, rabbit, and stuffed pork chops, too.

No matter what you decide for your entree, you’ll want to get an order of the shrimp and alligator cheesecake to start your meal.

Their signature appetizer is one of the most popular items on the menu, and after one bite you’ll understand why.

And what better setting to enjoy your Creole meal than in the back of a pick-up truck?
