We all know Natural Bridge Caverns for its beautifully intricate cave system, but the San Antonio destination is also home to another family-friendly attraction: Twisted Trails. This four-story, 60-foot tall ropes course and zipline is equal parts terrifying and exhilarating, promising an experience you’ll never forget.
What we now know as Natural Bridge Caverns dates to 1960, when four college students stumbled upon a two-mile cavern beneath San Antonio. Today, several different tours lead visitors nearly 200 feet underground, showcasing ancient limestone formations, minerals, and many more incredible natural features.

Anyone who visited the caverns before the middle of 2019 probably remembers this ropes course. It already contained a whopping 47 obstacles, but a new and improved version is even more massive.

Towering 60 feet above the gorgeous Hill Country landscape, Twisted Trails isn’t your average ropes course. It’s four stories high, with elements like vertical rope ladders, double beams, and lily pads.

Several different aspects of physical fitness, such as strength, agility, and balance, will be put to the test. Either start out nearer to the ground as you get a feel for the course, or take a leap of faith and skip straight to the top. Either way, get ready for an exhilarating experience.

What sets Twisted Trails apart is how it connects to a zipline. Four rails span over 300 feet of suspended track, letting participants soar high above the forest canopy in a choose-your-own-adventure type experience.

Kiddos get to join in the fun as well, with the Tykes Zip Rail & Ropes Course designed just for them. It promotes both independence and family bonding, as parents can guide their child through the obstacles before handing them off for a solo zip.

Twisted Trails tickets are $24.99, and just $7.99 for the little ones. Adult participants must weigh no more than 300 pounds and fit safely into a harness.
