No matter where you live, you’re generally not that far away from a delightfully scenic nature trail that will positively enchant you. Next time you’re in the mood for an outdoor adventure filled with some of Louisiana’s most beautiful natural scenery, venture over to Sam Houston Jones State Park.
Established in 1944, Sam Houston Jones State Park is one of the highlights in the Lake Charles area.

There are five hiking trails at the park. Together that’s over eight miles of trails that will take you on quite the enchanting journey.

With the exception of the Longleaf Pine Trail (3.5 miles) all of the trails are under two miles long, so you can easily mix and match the trails to fit your schedule.

The park is home to more than 70 acres of longleaf pines, which are the oldest living southern pine species.
